Subak Museum Tabanan Bali, Indonesia, the best place to see and learn about traditional Balinese irrigation system and a collection of farm tools
Subak Museum is a museum exhibit of a collection of traditional agricultural tools used in farming and irrigation system / traditional irrigation Bali called Subak.
Subak Museum is also one tourist destination for study tour which is visited by students or tourists both domestic and foreign tourists in the central region of Tabanan. Sanggulan Tabanan Subak Museum is located in the village of Banjar Anyar, district of Kediri, Tabanan, Bali Indonesia. Distance from the city of Denpasar approximately 21 KM, or about 47 minutes.

History Museum Subak
The history of the Museum Subak is started from an idea hatched by I Gusti Ketut Kaler on August 17, 1975 which aims to preserve traditional institutions Subak cultural heritage as noble nation, and to introduce to young people and tourists about the traditional irrigation system that is unique in Bali. I Gusti Ketut Kaler is an expert in custom and religion at that time worked in the Office of Religious Affairs of Bali Province.

The idea was realized in the form of "Heritage Museum Subak" which was later renamed "Subak Museum". Subak Museum was inaugurated on 13 October 1981 by the Governor of Bali Prof. Dr. Bagus Mantra.
Subak Museum became one of the attractions in Tabanan Bali attractive and much visited by students, university students and tourists. There are a few things into consideration why Subak Museum established / constructed in Bali Tabanan Regency, which are:
Tabanan has the most extensive rice fields in the province of Bali so it is often dubbed as the rice granary of Bali. Number of Subak organization in Tabanan is the most in comparison with other districts on the island.
Rice Irrigation System (Irrigation) Subak
Subak is an organization of the farmers in Bali that specifically deal on setting or irrigation systems / irrigation in the traditional way / conventional, the existence of Subak is a manifestation of the concept / philosophy of Tri Hita Karana.
Tri Hita Karana is derived from the word "Tri" meaning three, "Hita" which means happiness / well-being and "Karana" which means the cause. It means that the Tri Hita Karana have meaning "Three causes the creation of happiness and well-being". Subak in the implementation method as follows:
- Parahyangan: the relationship between man and God.
- Pawongan: relationship between man and his fellow.
- Palemahan: the relationship between man and nature and the environment.
The word "Subak" was first seen in the tablets Pandak Bandung that have numbers 1072 M. Subak said that it refers to a social and religious institution is unique, has its own arrangements to regulate the use of irrigation water for rice growing.
Implementation of the water system Subak This can be seen in almost all rice fields in Bali, and the most visited is in attraction rice terraces / staircase steps Jatiluwih as a part of the landscape Subak Catur Angga Batukaru (one of the sites in Bali set by UNESCO as world cultural heritage).
Subak Museum Layout
Bali Subak Museum is divided into two separate parts, namely the complex of museum Parent / closed and open museum complex. At the museum closed / stem consists of two buildings / main building which has a function as an information center and exhibition hall as well as audio-visual room, study room, library, office and miniature Subak irrigation system. While the museum is open expanse of rice paddies with the Subak irrigation system.

In both the main building, visitors can see, know and learn everything related to agriculture and traditional equipment commonly in use in agriculture in Bali such as cutlery and rice pounder, tool plowman, etc. Here as well as visitors get complete information about how the Subak irrigation system as well as the processing of paddy from start to finish. Such as how to open paddy fields, dividing the water, making the water tunnel, measuring the water lines as well as complete the process of their religious rituals.
